Ann G Shorts' Obituary
ANN G. SHORTS, 88, formerly of Little Creek, DE and Dunn, NC, passed from this life on Monday, May 22, 2017, at Fredericksburg (VA) Health and Rehab Center. She was born May 10, 1929, in Dover, the daughter of the late Hiram D. Godwin, Sr. and Marie Dill Godwin. Ann was a graduate of Dover High School Class of 1948.
She was a life-time member of the Little Creek Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. She was also active in the Delaware Democrat Party for most of her life, working for a time at Legislative Hall for the then-Senator Jacob ‘Jake’ Zimmerman. Ann also served as Kent County Deputy Register of Wills for 7-and-half years, retiring in June, 2000.
Ann was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard L. ‘Dickie’ Shorts; brother, John M. ‘Millie’ Godwin – killed in action during the Korean War; and, brother, Hiram D. Godwin, Jr.
She is survived by her daughter Valerie A. Shorts, Fredericksburg, VA; son, Steven M. Shorts (Carolyn), Dunn, NC; sister, Betty Jane Warren, Magnolia, DE; sister, Phyllis Richmond, Summerfield, FL. Four grandchildren: Matthew A. Austin (Robin), Fredericksburg, VA; G. Leroy Shorts (Tracey), Ewa Beach, HI; Sarah Lott, Dunn, NC; and Gene Shorts, Woodbridge, VA; and five great-grandchildren.
Friends may call between 12 noon and 1 pm Friday, June 2, 2017, at Trader Funeral Home, 12 Lotus Street, Dover, DE. Burial will be private at Lakeside Cemetery, Dover.
