Kathleen Virgina Vanderwende

July 8, 1924 - April 17, 2013

Kathleen Virginia Vanderwende passed away peacefully Wednesday April 17, 2013, at the home of her daughter, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 08, 1924 in Dover, DE to the late Lemuel and Dorothy Dische Spence. She was preceded in death by her husband Thurlow and her son, Walter Russell. She was a member of Frederica Vol. Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary, Viola United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday School Teacher , Harrington Moose Lodge, Member and Vol. at the Frederica Senior Center, Charter member of the Murderkill Lioness Club. She worked at the W. T. Grants snack bar for many years. She is survived by two sons Thurlow E. "Butch" Vanderwende of Viola,. and Lemuel H. "Lem" (Darlene) Vanderwende of Dover, and four daughters Kenzel (Gene) Messick of Odessa; Jane (David) Jones of Frederica; Beverly (Dennis) Beebe of Frederica; Lou Ann Vanderwende of Felton. Her loving grandchildren, Kelly (Turk) Turek, Jolene (Jammie) Gottleib, Kim Vanderwende, Jennifer Lee, Darren(Cindy) Jones, Laura Leigh(Keith) Collins, Michael(Cathy) Beebe, Heather(Brandon) Dill. Her precious Great Grandchildren, Justin, Ben, Kyle, Adara, Morgan, Abby, Anne Marie, Joey, Brianna, John, John David, Alanea, Lane, Mackenzie, Kade, Madison, Brian, Kiersten. Her only great great grandson Ashton. Friends may call Sunday April 21, 2013 from 3 to 5 at the Trader Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 22, 2013 at 11 am where friends may call one hour prior. Burial will be at the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Camden, DE.
