Josephine Louise Strong

Josephine Louise Strong, 80, of Dover, died Friday, Nov. 1, 2024, surrounded by her daughter, sister, and friend. Josie was born on May 9, 1944, in Dover, the daughter of the late Joseph P. Moore and Anna Louise Moore. Josie was raised on the family farm, which is now Moore’s Meadows. She was a graduate of Dover High School, class of 1962. Josie started her career as a real estate secretary at Schmittinger and Rodriguez and continued working for George Gardener who partnered with Parkowski Noble & Guerke. She retired after 40 dedicated years. Josie was a lifetime member of People’s United Church of Christ, while also being a Sunday School teacher for many years, and was a member of the Chestnut Grove 4-H Club. She was a strong supporter of Dover High Alumni, in which she was always involved in planning class reunions. Josie had a kind and loving heart. She loved her family and friends like no other. She gave of herself in many ways. Josie will always be remembered for her famous homemade sugar cookies and personalized cross-stitched gifts. In addition to her parents, Josie is preceded in death by sisters, Mary Anna Johnson and Connie Starkey, brother Kenneth Moore, niece Pam McNamara and a great-niece Erin Murphy. Josie leaves behind her loving family, daughter Michele Davis and her husband Scott of Dover, daughter Debbie Gallagher and her husband Jim of Pennsylvania, and daughter Tina Strong of Florida. Her legacy lives on in her grandchildren Zachary, Cody, Jenna Davis, Ryann (Kevin) Kulak, Regan and Jimmy Gallagher, Jami Mckibbin, and great-grandchildren Adalynne Renee Davis, Quinn and Patrick Kulak. Also surviving is her sister Debbie (Rusty) Jack of Frederica; Brothers-in-Law Dickie Johnson and Louis Starkey, and sister-in-law Josie Moore, along with several nieces and nephews. In addition, she leaves behind her best friend Judy Carrow as well as a loving and dedicated caregiver Belinda Musa. A celebration of her life service will take place on November 8th at 12:30 pm at The People’s United Church of Christ, 46 South Bradford Street, Dover 19901. Friends and family may call from 11-12:30 at the Church. Burial will follow at Sharon Hills Memorial Park in Dover. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N.
