Jane Marie Doyle

Jane Marie Doyle, age 79, of Dover DE passed away peacefully in her home on Monday March 23, 2015. She was born March 7, 1937 in Jamaica Plain MA. She graduated from St Thomas Aquinas High School. She married Daniel Doyle on April 12, 1958 at St Thomas Aquinas Parish in Jamaica Plain, MA. Jane is preceded in death by her husband SGM Daniel Doyle, US Army (Retired) and daughter Donna Doyle. She is survived by sons Daniel Doyle and his wife Rose of VA and Douglas Doyle and his wife Amy of DE and daughters Deborah Ryan of VA and Denise Elgie and her husband Harris (Reb) of CO as well as brothers Thomas Connolly of MA and John Connolly of MA. She has 9 grandchildren: Colleen, Caroline, and Cynthia Doyle, Danielle and Shane Doyle, Meghan and Garrett Ryan, and Daniel and Mathew Elgie Jane and Dan enjoyed 30 years in the US Army together. They started their life in Asmara, Ethiopia Africa where Daniel and Deborah were born. Their tour of duty there was followed by a posting to Fort Monmouth, New Jersey where Donna and Denise were born. The growing family then moved to Poitiers, France where Douglas was born. They also lived in Colorado Springs, CO, Aberdeen Proving Grounds, MD, Camp Zama, Japan and ultimately settled in Dover, DE. Jane spent most of her time raising the family but loved to stay busy. She volunteered countless hours during the family’s tours in the Army all over the world. She served as a Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader while the children were young. She was active in Army civic and community organizations and was president of the NCO Wives Club. She also managed the base Thrift Store while stationed at Camp Zama, Japan. When the family moved to Delaware she worked at various locations. She retired after 20 years with Boscov's where she served in various capacities throughout the store. Jane has been a long time member of the Dover Elks Lodge 1903 and Dover AFB Chapel 2. Friends may call Tuesday March 31, 2015 from 5 to 7 PM at Trader Funeral Home 12 Lotus Street Dover DE 10091. Catholic funeral service will be held on Wednesday April 1, 2015 at 10 AM at Church of Holy Cross 631 S. State Street Dover DE 19901. Interment will follow at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery 2465 Chesapeake City Road Bear DE 19701. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that a donation be made to the Dover Modern Maturity Center, 1121 Forest Ave, Dover, DE 19904 in memory of Jane Doyle.
